About Lajuma Mountain Retreat, Louis Trichardt

Makhado Accommodation / Lajuma

We provide a unique nature experience through exclusive personal attention. Visitors are welcomed and assisted by the owners, Ian and Retha. They will also provide information on the environment and accompany visitors on specialist walks or other activities if required. Our Makhado (Louis Trichardt) accommodation is en suite and fully equipped for self-catering.

You receive bedding, towels, all cutlery, braai facilities and lighting. All units have a fridge and a gas stove. You must bring a torch and hard wood for a braai if required. The last seven kilometres up the mountain cannot be negotiated with a standard sedan car. Cars are parked at a safe place and visitors are transported up and down the mountain at a small extra fee.

Walk along well marked trails, climb the highest peak of the Soutpansberg, swim in clear mountain streams and observe a variety of rare and interesting plants and animals. We offer eco-walks, a PowerPoint presentation and field experience on leopards and primates (baboon, sykes monkey and Vervet monkey) and sunset trips at an additional cost of R80-00/pp (minimum four persons). Quid bikes are not allowed but mountain biking is welcomed.
